The weekly report of the Central Bank of Honduras (BCH) published on November 1, presented the amount of $ 4,080.7 million of income from remittances throughout 2018. It represents a growth of 9.8%, about $ 364.8 million, compared to the previous year where it was registered an amount entered of $ 3,715.9 million. Due to this increase and the trends shown, it is estimated that it can reach the figure of $ 4.95 million.
The average of shipments per person is $ 343, according to the semiannual survey of family remittances, presented in August by the BCH. . Shipments added to the day, on average, reach $ 14 million, only in remittances, which continue to be the main source of foreign currency for the country.
According to the president of BCH, Wilfredo Cerrato, growth has been greater than expected and will have a positive impact on the accumulation of net international reserves.
The annual growth of remittance income continues, with a growth of 168% compared to the $ 2,893 million entered in 2012.
