In December 2016, the "Project for the Commercial Strengthening of Companies, Promotion of Exports and Investments" was signed, in a ceremony that involved the Embassy of Japan, the Foundation for Investment and Development of Exports (FIDE), the Secretariat of Relations International and International Cooperation and the General Secretariat of Government.
The project began with a budget of more than L.29 million. Its main objective is to strengthen the capabilities of small and medium enterprises in their incursion into the international market, promote foreign investment in Honduras and thus generate new sources of productive employment.
The closing ceremony was held on November 14, with results "extremely satisfactory, because not only met the established goals, but even exceeded much of the agreed indicators" words of the Presidential Director. The Ambassador of Japan also expressed his satisfaction with the results and remained willing to continue supporting Honduras on behalf of his country.
Thanks to the project, at least 29 foreign companies intend to invest in Honduras, another 49 foreign companies have received the proposal along with the results of the project and more than 580 local companies have strengthened their export capacities.
80 of these companies were prepared and participated in trade fairs and international trade missions. They managed to generate 144 businesses in process and obtained 36 new contracts to export their products, according to the results presented by FIDE.
